Bakit Medisina?

Naisipan kong isulat ang blog na ito dahil kanina lamang ay nagkausap kami ng aking nanay.

"Anak, nakita ko yung naiwan mo dito sa computer. Yung limang valedictorian (ang tinutukoy niya ay si

 Ronibats na iniidolo ko). Gifted talaga." 

Sabi ko naman, "Nag-aral kasi silang maigi dahil nakita nila kung paano naghirap yung magulang nila." 

"Aba eh naghihirap din naman kami ni Papa mo" , sagot ng nanay ko. 

"Oo nga po, hintayin mo lang Ma at ipapakita ko din po sa inyo sa pasukan."

Alam ko na hindi madali yung mga huling salita na sinabi ko sa nanay ko. Basta ang alam ko ay mag-aaral ulit  ako sa darating na Hunyo upang tuparin ang mga pangarap ko na maging isang ganap na doktor.

Bakit nga ba Medisina?

Bata pa lang ako ay bukambibig ko na ang pangarap ko na maging doktor. Kapag tinatanong ako ng mga tiyahin ko kung ano ba ang gusto ko paglaki ko, ang sinasabi ko lagi ay "Gusto kong maging doktor!". Naalala ko, tatanungin pa nila ako, bakit naman doktor? Mayroon akong dalawang sagot dyan kahit noong maliit pa ako. Ang una ay para makapanggamot ng mga may sakit, at ang pangalawa ay kumita ng pera. Oo naman, sino ba naman ang hindi gustong kumita ng pera? Sa pagkakaalam ko, kapag napagtagumpayan mo ang kursong ito ay tiyak na hindi ka magugutom. Gusto kong kumita ng pera para sa pansarili kong gastusin at para na rin sa magiging pamilya ko. Okay na ko sa payak na pamumuhay. Isinantabi ko na yung mga pangarap kong malaking bahay na may swimming pool sa loob, magagarang kotse, wallet na doble doble (lol kanta yan ni gloc 9). Naiisip ko na nanggagamot ako ng mga maysakit at meron akong pamilya. Okay na ako doon. 

Bakit hindi na lang Nursing? Magpapagod ka pa ng humigit-kumulang 5 taon. Pwede ka naman makatulong sa mga may sakit at kumita ng mas malaki pang pera kapag tinuloy mo ang pagiging nars mo ah?

Oo alam ko. Pero gaya nga ng sinabi ko, isinantabi ko na yung pangarap kong marangyang pamumuhay. Pwede akong makatulong sa mga may sakit kapag nars ako pero iba pa rin talaga kapag ikaw na mismo ang nagbibigay ng lunas sa pasyente mo. Yung tipong ikaw ang nagrereseta ng gamot, nag-oopera, nagche-check up, at kung anu-ano pa. Hindi ko minamaliit ang mga nars natin. Malaki ang respeto ko sa kanila at alam kong hindi matatawaran ang mga sakripisyong ginagawa nila para lang mapangalagaan ang kanilang mga pasyente. Lalo na yung mga nasa ibang bansa na kumakayod maigi makapagpadala lang ng pera para sa kanilang mga anak na halos 10 taon na nilang hindi nakikita at magdadalawang beses nang aakyat sa entablado ng hindi man lang nila nasasabitan ng medalya. Ah basta, alam niyo na ang ibig kong sabihin.

Sa ngayon, alam kong medyo idealistic ang mga pangarap ko na makatulong sa kapwa kapag doktor na at kung anu-ano pa. Marami na akong nabasa na nagsasabing hindi mo talaga malalaman ang buhay ng isang doktor hanggang sa ikaw ay maging isa rin sa kanila. 

Basta, kahit anong interbyu pa yan, at tanungin ako kung bakit gusto ko maging doktor, ang isasagot ko lang ay, "Dahil gusto ko pong makatulong sa mga nangangailangan ng tulong medikal." Marami pa akong kakaining bigas para matupad ko 'tong mga ito. Mag-aaral ako ng mabuti sa darating na pasukan at alam ko na kakayanin ko ito. 5 taon mula ngayon, isa na akong doktor! Taga mo sa bato!

Teacher, Teacher!!

Ano ba ang isang guro? Kung kaya mong basahin ang mga nakasulat dito sa blog ko ay magpasalamat ka sa mga naging guro mo. Sila ang tumatayong pangalawang magulang natin. Bakit ba ako naging guro? Hindi ko din alam eh. Hindi ko alam kung paano ako napunta sa pagtuturo gayong alam ko naman na gusto kong maging doktor. Hindi kasi ako nakapasok sa medisina para sa taong pampanuruan 2012-2013 sa kadahilanang hindi ako natanggap sa PLM at ang iba pang mga kolehiyo ay hindi na tumatanggap ng aplikante dahil iyon ay katapusan na ng Abril! Pero tama na sa ka-bitteran ko sa PLM. Pero sa totoo lang, nasasaktan ako kapag napapadaan ako ng Intramuros at nakikita ko ang malaking arko papuntang PLM. Tama na nga eh, tama na.

Iniwan ko ang pagiging review coordinator ng MERGE dahil alam kong mas magiging sigurado ang trabaho ko sa pagiging guro kaysa makipagsapalaran sa pagaapplay sa mga call center dahil 5 beses na akong hindi tinatanggap. Kahit nga initial interview ay hindi ako natanggap. Ganun ba talaga ako kabobo mag-Ingles? Nagtatagalog ako ngayon kasi nahihirapan akong ipahayag ang sarili ko sa Ingles. Nahihirapan talaga ako promise haha! Ilang beses din akong kumonsulta sa mga kaibigan ko kung ano ang tatanggapin nila, maging guro o tapusin ang pagiging review coordinator? Sabi nila, "doon ka na sa sigurado, kapag tapos na ang board exam, saan ka ngayon? Nganga? Paano kung hindi ka matanggap sa call center? Nganga?" Kaya ayun. Kinuha ko ang oportunidad na maging guro. At minsan ko nang inisip na maging clinical instructor para makapagturo dahil gustong-gusto ko talaga magbahagi ng mga nalalaman ko. Kapag may mga mas mababang pangkat na gustong magpatulong sa'kin na may kinalaman sa nursing, aba sige go lang ako ng go kahit libre pa yan at kahit magdamagan pa yan. Ewan ko ba. Pero gustung-gusto ko talaga magturo. Lalo na kapag nagpapasalamat sila dahil mataas ang nakuha nilang marka sa kanilang case presentation dahil tinulungan ko daw sila. Nakakataba ng puso.

Nagsimula ang pagiging ganap na guro ko sa aking ikadalawampu't dalawang kaarawan. Oo. Bertdey konang magsimula ang pasukan. Hunyo 6, 2012. Naitalaga pa ako bilang gurong tagapayo. Ano naman ang

malay ko sa pagiging ADVISER? Wala nga akong alam sa kurikulum ng elementarya eh. Syempre, imbis na tanggihan ay niyakap ko na lang ang responsibilidad. At ayun nga, isa-isa nang nagdatingan ang mga naging anak ko sa loob ng 10 buwan kasama ang kanilang mga nanay, tatay, tito, tita, lolo, lola, yaya, at kung sino-sino pang kasama nila. Sinalubong ako ng mga tanong ng mga magulang:

• Teacher bakit noong orientation babae daw ang adviser?
• Teacher ano po ba ang notebook na gagamitin nila? Composition po ba o writing?
• Teacher matanong ko lang, sino ba yang Feliciano Cabuco?
• Teacher yung sa uniform po, saan po ba makukuha?
• Teacher anong oras po uwian nila? Regular class po ba today?
• Teacher anong oras po recess nila?
• Teacher ano pong number ng mga subjects nila para sa notebook?

at marami pang iba! Halos masiraan ako ng bait sa mga tanong nila. Dalawang araw lang ang pagitan ng pagkakatanggap ko bilang guro at ng pagbubukas ng pasukan. Wala akong kaalam-alam sa mga tinatanong nila. Nakakawindang talaga. As in! Laging sagot ko sa kanila, "Ah sige po Mam/Sir, itatanong ko lang po tapos po babalik ako." Mga ilang ulit kong ginawa yun kasi talagang hindi ko alam ang sagot sa ilang tanong nila. Ang nasasagot ko lang ay ang oras ng kanilang recess, uwian, recess, uwian, yun lang! 

Nagkamali din ako ng pagpapakilala sa mga bata. Naging mabait ako. Naging komportable tuloy ang mga bata at naging maingay ang klase. Hindi ko naman magawang manindak dahil ang kanilang mga bantay ay nanonood sa malaking bintana ng silid. Sa gitna ng mga pangyayari sa unang araw ng pasukan, pumunta ako sa banyo ng aming faculty room, naghilamos, humarap sa salamin habang nakatuon ang aking dalawang kamay sa lababo at ito ang mga salitang namutawi sa aking mga labi, "Ano? Kaya mo pa?"

Lumipas ang unang araw ng pasukan na nag-iwan sa akin ng maraming katanungan at nagpamulat na din sa akin sa ilang katotohanan. Pero sa kabila ng lahat, nairaos ko ito at kumain ako ng SIOMAI habang pauwi bilang regalo sa aking sarili.

Sa ngayon siguro hindi ko pa nabigyang linaw kung ano talaga ang isang guro at kahit siguro ano pang paliwanag ang gawin ko ay hindi ko ito masasabi sa isang paliwanagan lamang. Marami pa akong ikukuwento tungkol sa mga karanasan ko bilang isang guro sa loob ng 10 buwan. At kapag natapos na ang mga kuwento ko ay kayo na ang bahalang humusga. 

Mahalin natin ang ating mga guro! Mabuhay!

Being a Teacher...

I may not be a teacher by profession, but I know that I am a teacher by heart. Here are some of my students' letter for me. These are farewell and valentine's day letters from my advisory class and some of them were given to me while I'm having my lecture. LOL.

P.S. spellings and capitalizations are based on their actual letters.

Sharifah's Birthday Party!!

I just had my Canon EOS 1100D kit last January 18, 2013. During the past, I always thought that having a DSLR camera is a luxury and I never imagined that I will have one! So far, I'm enjoying using it but I barely practice shooting since I am in the teaching profession and only have the weekends to shoot but it depends on the demands of the school.

So I wrote this blog to share my first ever birthday cover. I was bargained by my co-teacher to shoot on the birthday of her student's sibling. At first, I was really ashamed since I only have the camera for less than a week and I don't have any equipment except for a nifty fifty! Oh my God. But I have to take the challenge since there is no turning back by that time. I just acted as a professional photographer since no one will recognize me except for some parents and my fellow teachers. And by my surprise, the family gave me PHP 2,000! Yes! Two Thousand Pesosesoses!! Too much for a one week amateur I guess. Anyway, it was my chance to buy accessories like lcd cloth, air blower, brush and a UV filter for my nifty fifty. It is so tiring but I enjoyed shooting those precious moments during the party. Here are some pictures I had. ENJOY!!
